Danh sách gần hoàn chỉnh các học bổng toàn phần và toàn học phí Mỹ cho DHS

Sẵn sàng du học – SSDH giới thiệu với các bạn học học bổng toàn phần và toàn học phí mà học sinh quốc tế có thể ứng cử vào. Danh sách này chỉ áp dụng cho bậc cử nhân và các em nộp năm nay để nhập học năm 2021-2022. Hãy cùng nghiên cứu danh sách và những điều cần chú ý.

1 hoc bongTrong danh sách này bao gồm những trường anh chị như Notre Dame, Duke, Emory, đến những trường ít du học sinh từng nghe đến như UT-Tyler, Rollins, Oglethrope. Trước khi nhào vô nộp, du học Mỹ cùng Khương khuyên các bạn lưu ý những điều sau:

Đọc kỹ website của học bổng và của trường. Một số ít học bổng đề cập điều kiện sàn như điểm số GPA và SAT, nhưng đại đa số đều đòi hỏi những thứ rất mập mờ như thành tích hàn lâm xuất sắc, cống hiến cho xã hội, hoặc thể hiện hoài bão lớn. Bên cạnh đó, khi đọc kĩ bạn sẽ thấy một số trường yêu cầu một số yếu tố hơi đặc biệt. Ví dụ, Ave Maria University có một số học bổng toàn học phí chỉ dành riêng cho học sinh quốc tế, nhưng thí sinh phải là người Công giáo.

Những trường viết rõ ràng trên website là học sinh quốc tế được phép nhận những học bổng này. Một số trường có học bổng xịn nhưng khá mơ hồ về việc sinh viên quốc tế có thể nộp không. Trong trường hợp đó, bạn có thể gửi email đến international admission officer để làm rõ.

Gần như tất cả các học bổng dưới đây là merit-based, nghĩa là họ chỉ xét học lực chứ không xét khả năng tài chính của gia đình. Cho nên các trường nổi tiếng và hào phóng như Harvard, Yale, Caltech, Princeton không xuất hiện vì họ chỉ có chính sách hỗ trợ need-based cho học sinh quốc tế, cần nhiêu cho bấy nhiêu.

Một số học bổng đòi hỏi thí sinh đến trường để phỏng vấn cho vòng cuối, nhưng vì COVID nên năm nay họ cho phép phỏng vấn trực tuyến.

Một số trường trao học bổng xịn nhưng không hỗ trợ tài chính dạng need-based cho học sinh quốc tế. Vì vậy, nếu bạn trượt học bổng, bạn sẽ không được nhận một đồng nào khác từ trường. Ví dụ, University of Wisconsin-Madison và University of Michigan trao học bổng toàn phần cho sinh viên quốc tế. Nhưng nếu bạn trượt, bạn có thể nhắm đóng full (cỡ 53k – 65k/năm). Ngược lại, một số trường có cả học bổng xịn lẫn hỗ trợ tài chính need-based, nên dù trượt học bổng lớn, bạn vẫn sẽ được cân nhắc cho các học bổng nhỏ hơn cùng với grant, work study, và loan (tất cả gộp lại để trở thành một gói hỗ trợ tài chính). Ví dụ, Wabash, Notre Dame, và Soka duy trì cả hai loại chính sách này (merit-based và need-based) cho học sinh quốc tế.

Những học bổng đánh dấu sao (Facebook) chỉ dành riêng cho sinh viên quốc tế. Loại học bổng này thường ít cạnh tranh hơn vì bạn không phải ganh đua với học sinh Mỹ. Ví dụ, mỗi năm Wabash nhận 20 học sinh quốc tế. Hai người trong số đó sẽ nhận học bổng toàn phần, nên nếu đậu vào Wabash, xác suất được học miễn phí là 2/20 x 100 = 20%!

Rất nhiều học bổng đòi hỏi nộp Early Decision hoặc Early Action, nên bạn cần chuẩn bị ngay lập tức. Nếu không thì…vẫn còn năm sau. Còn học bổng nào khác cho học sinh quốc tế mình sẽ tiếp tục cập nhật
