Beside là giới từ chỉ vị trí, có nghĩa tương đương với “next to” (bên cạnh, kế bên).
Ex:

Lưu ý: Trường hợp đặc biệt:
Beside one’s self: cảm xúc không thể kìm nén được
Ví dụ: I am beside myself with anger (Tôi không thể kìm nén được sự tức giận).
Beside the poit: chẳng liên quan, vấn đề chính là…
Ví dụ: Come on! It’s beside the poit… (Thôi nào, điều đó chẳng liên quan gì cả).
2. Besides
Besides là phó từ, có nghĩa ngoài ra, vả lại.
Ex:
– What did you do on your vacation besides sleep?
– Besides Sarah and Joanna, there were no women at the meeting.
– I didn’t eat anything at the restaurant because I wasn’t hungry – and besides, I don’t like Italian food.
